District 6820 Service Trip to Guadalajara, Mexico

Project Opportunities
 
There are many opportunities for a club, individuals or organizations to participate with Rotary District 6820 in service to the impoverished people around Guadalajara, Mexico or those who travel to the city for medical assistance.  For more detailed information on any of the projects below please contact Bill Walker, bill@brickerton.com or 662 549 4676.  Individuals may make checks out to The District 6820 Rotary Foundation for tax purposes.  Mail all checks with project selected to Bill Walker, 70 Brickerton Street, Columbus, MS  39701.
 
 
  1. Service – join the team of Rotarians and non-Rotarians who will travel to Mexico to provide service along with Rotarians from Club Rotario Tlaquepaque Industrial District 4140 to people in need - $2,000 estimated cost
  2. Sponsor a team member to go on the trip or partial sponsorship - +/- $2000 estimated cost
  3. Schools – there are many schools in this area that need repairs.  Because there are more students then schools, each school building is for two different schools, one is in the morning and different school in the afternoon.
    1. Replace desktops in schools - $1,200 estimated cost
    2. Provide and install water filter for school which also allows children to bring containers and take clean water home each day - $100 per filter
    3. Building Repairs - +/- $2,000 estimated cost depending on number of needed repairs which usually are bathroom repairs including plumbing and painting
  4. Villages – there are approximately 80 villages of very underprivilege families that do not have access to medicine, have a lack of food, education and jobs outside the city
    1. Lunch and toys for children - $350
    2. Medical Supplies for the village clinic which is served by the team - $500
    3. Dental Supplies for the village clinic which is served by the team - $500
  5. Hogares de la Caridad – Home for disabled and abandoned people which now houses 35+ people from age 2 to 35.
    1. Medical Supplies including medicine, catheters, diapers, bed covering, etc.  -  +/- $500 per month
    2. Equipment for school, therapy, building - +/- $5,000 estimated cost
  6. Guadalajara Fire Department – one department services a very large area without the proper equipment
